Following graduation from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine, she specialized in internal medicine at Gevher Nesibe Faculty of Medicine. Worked as internal medicine specialist at Van State Hospital and self-employed physician in Van between 1980-1984. Completed endocrinology and metabolic diseases education at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases. Awarded with the title of associate professor in 1990 and professor in 1997 by Hacettepe University. Continued his professional life as a lecturer at the same department and then, head of the department between 2011- 2019.

Chaired 53 rd National Diabetes Congress and International Obesity Congress. Took part in the start of Hacettepe Postgraduate Education Course and undertook arrangement of courses between 1996-2013, and chairmanship of the course for 3 years.
