Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. An oncologist is a physician who treats cancer and provides medical care to a person diagnosed with cancer. Oncology medicine is divided into three main areas: medical, surgical and radiation.
Medical Oncologists are specialists in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine subspecialties. Medical Oncology Specialists deal with the pathological diagnosis of cancer patients diagnosed in other branches (General Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Pathology, Radiology) and the side effects of oral or intravenous drug therapy and chemotherapy, and follow the patients after treatment.
